CDC congratulates its co-ops during banquet

ABRAM-VILLAGE, PEI – Oct. 18, 2012 – On the occasion of Co-op Week and the International Year of Co-operatives, the Conseil de développement coopératif de l’Î.-P.-É. (CDC) organized a special banquet of recognition for its 18 member co-ops on Oct. 17.

President Angèle Arsenault said co-ops are such an integral part of the local culture that people can sometimes take them for granted, even though they are the biggest employer of the region and provide an immense array of services.

But if they were to completely disappear from one day to the next, “there wouldn’t be a whole lot left in the Evangeline region,” she said.

Arsenault, centre, along with Caroline Arsenault from the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel and Ernest Arsenault from the Basket Weavers of PEI Co-op helped propose a toast to all co-ops, boards of directors and employees.
