Acadian Chamber to launch events calendar and entrepreneurial awards contest

During free “Entrepreneurs’ Luncheon”

SUMMERSIDE, PEI – Sept. 26, 2012 – The Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI (CCAFLIPE) is inviting all its members as well as all other French-speaking entrepreneurs, co-operators and community leaders to attend its annual “Entrepreneurs’ Luncheon” Thursday, Oct. 18, at 11:45 a.m. at Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside. A free lunch – beef stew and dessert – will be served.

“During this luncheon, we’ll have a quick look back at our events from the past year, which was our first year of activities. Then, we’ll launch our calendar of events for the next 12 months, which will include about 24 networking, learning and sharing events,” says CCAFLIPE spokesperson Jeannette Arsenault. “Some of these activities will address themes directly related to business and entrepreneurship while others will essentially be social events to allow our members from different regions to get to know each other better.”

She said the CCAFLIPE is extremely lucky to have devoted partners collaborating in the organization of most of these events. Among these collaborators are the Wellington Rural Action Centre, RDÉE Prince Edward Island, CBDC Central PEI, the Conseil de développement coopératif, the Province of PEI, the Centre Belle-Alliance and several other chambers of commerce.

The spokesperson said the Acadian Chamber will also officially launch its contest for the five entrepreneurial awards it will present during its Entrepreneurs’ Gala next spring.

“We’ve modified the criteria for some of our awards to give a better chance to a greater number of businesses and business people to qualify,” said Arsenault. “We have also adjusted our nomination form a bit, again with the hope of giving a chance to all nominees to present themselves to us in a more standardized format.”

The “Entrepreneurs’ Luncheon” is presented as part of the 6th Annual Pumpkin Festival, staged by the Belle-Alliance Regional Committee. Local musicians will entertain as participants arrive for the event.

Those interested in participating in the event must register no later than Oct. 11 by giving their name, phone number and email to Jeannine Arsenault at 902-854-2328, Ext. 228, or by email at jeannine@sdbaipe.com.
