Full slate of events planned for Co-op and Small Business Week Oct. 14-20

WELLINGTON – Sept. 28, 2018 – Here is the complete list of French-language events planned for Co-op and Small Business Week, Oct. 14-20, throughout PEI.

OCT. 9-18 – FOOD DRIVE to collect non-perishable goods for Summerside Salvation Army Food Bank and Tyne Valley Caring Cupboard. You’re invited to drop off your food contributions to Evangeline-Central Credit Union or Wellington Co-op. Your name will be entered into a draw for a $100 gift card at Wellington Co-op. Or, alternatively, your child can bring your contributions to Evangeline School where the class that collects the most food will win $100 in cash.

SUNDAY, OCT. 14 – FAMILY BENEFIT MEGA-BINGO at 2 p.m. at Evangeline School cafeteria in Abram-Village in aid of Summerside Salvation Army Food Bank and Tyne Valley Caring Cupboard. More than $3,500 worth of prizes, gift cards and cash to be won during our 15 games. Bring your dabbers. Price: $5 for booklet of two cards per page. 50-50 tickets will be sold. Canteen service to be provided. You’ll have opportunities to win booklets of bingo cards at Wellington Co-op and Evangeline-Central Credit Union and through contests at www.facebook.com/rdeeipe. This event is presented jointly by various economic development, co-operative and community partners.

TUESDAY, OCT. 16 – MASS FOR SENIORS at the home of Le Chez-nous Co-op in Wellington at 10:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend. Celebrant: Father Eddie Cormier.

TUESDAY, OCT. 16 – ENTREPRENEURS’ AND CO-OPERATORS’ LUNCHEON at the Centre Belle-Alliance in Summerside at 12 noon with guest speaker Olivier Bertrand, owner of the businesses xoxolo.com, les Druides du Web and Elumicate Inc. of Moncton, NB, and president of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Canada, Atlantic Network. He’ll address the theme “The importance of bilingualism in business, particularly in the context of the coming of the 2019 World Acadian Congress”. During this free event, which includes lunch, the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce will launch its 2019 entrepreneurial awards competition and RDÉE PEI will launch a new version of its business start-up contest (formerly the Dragons’ Contest). Other presentations will also take place. A bit of musical entertainment will greet participants upon their arrival. Door prizes will also be drawn for. Sponsored by CBDC Central PEI, the LIENS project, RDÉE PEI and the Wellington Rural Action Centre, this event is also part of La Belle Alliance’s Pumpkin Festival. Registration required by Oct. 9. TUESDAY, OCT. 16 – “5 TO 7 RECEPTION FOR NEWCOMER ENTREPRENEURS” at the Carrefour de l’Isle-Saint-Jean in Charlottetown. Brief presentations by various providers of services and grants for businesses. Guest speaker: Olivier Bertrand, owner of xoxolo.com, les Druides du Web and Elumicate Inc. of Moncton, NB. Free session and hors d’oeuvres. Cash bar service available. Presented by RDÉE PEI’s LIENS project. Registration deadline: Oct. 11. THURSDAY, OCT. 18 – CO-OP BINGO at Le Chez-Nous community care center in Wellington from 1:30-3:30 p.m. All seniors from the community are invited to participate. Great variety of prizes to be won. Light lunch to be served. Admission price: a non-perishable food item to be donated to needy families.

THURSDAY, OCT. 18 – CREDIT UNION DAY at the three branches of the Evangeline-Central Credit Union in Wellington, Tyne Valley and O’Leary. Draws, prizes and snacks. Drop off your non-perishable food donations for the food banks.

THURSDAY, OCT. 18 – CO-OPERATORS’ FORUM at 5:30 p.m. for representatives of each local co-op, who will be invited to share about their recent successes, challenges and future plans. During this informal supper or “Co-op Forum”, to be held at the Centre Goéland in Cape Egmont, the Co-op Order of Merit award will also be presented to a deserving co-operator. FRIDAY, OCT. 19 – FUN DAY AT WELLINGTON CO-OP. You’ll have a chance to participate in a number of little contests and to win a nice variety of prizes. Come one, come all.

FRIDAY, OCT. 19 – FIRST SENIORS’ DANCE at Le Chez-nous community care in Wellington, for residents and other seniors of the area from 7-9 p.m. Great dancing music. Come on down.
