Family camp to integrate Francophone and immigrant families

CAPE EGMONT, PEI – Oct. 31, 2012 – The Village des Sources l’Étoile Filante is looking for three new immigrant families and three francophone families from PEI who would be interested in participating in a family weekend camp focusing on primary values of the heart: sharing, welcoming others and being committed.

The camp, to be held at the Centre Goéland in Cape Egmont, will begin Friday, Nov. 9, at 6:30 p.m. and will wrap up on Sunday, Nov. 11, at 3 p.m.

“The six families will be immersed in the key values of the Village des Sources l’Étoile Filante through games, laughter, sharing, profound reflection and healing in nature,” explains organizer Darlene Arsenault. “The families will be engaged in a variety of activities that will give them an opportunity to fully partake in the foundations and values of a personal, social and spiritual development camp hosted by four of the Village des Sources’ camp counselors from the Evangeline area.”

A registration fee of $75 is requested from each family to help pay for lodging and meals for the duration of the camp. Participants must bring their own bedding and personal effects. However, the Village des Sources would certainly not want the registration fee to prevent interested families from participating in the camp. An interested family who can’t commit to the amount is welcomed to make other arrangements with the camp organizers.

Jacinthe Lemire, provincial coordinator with the, Coopérative d’intégration francophone de l’Î.-P.-É., says her organization is pleased to partner with the Village des Sources for the hosting of this camp. “Our organization is proud to be the main financial partner of this project. The integration of immigrant families is an important step in ensuring their retention in our community. The family camp will greatly contribute to the integration of immigrant families as well as increase awareness to families from here.’’

All those who are interested are asked to fill out a registration form that can be obtained by calling Sylvain Gallant at 902-854-2546 or by sending an email to etoilefilanteipe@gmail.com. Completed forms must then be submitted no later than Friday, Nov. 2nd. Organizers are also asking that a $40 deposit be sent with the registration form.

This camp is funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Coopérative d’intégration francophone de l’Î.-P.-É.
