Getting a better understanding of diversity in the workplace

SUMMERSIDE – Oct. 30, 2013 – Seventeen people benefitted from a free workshop called “Diversity in the Workplace 101” offered by the LIENS program (Linking Economic Immigration to our Successes) Oct. 25 in the morning in Charlottetown and the afternoon in Summerside.

Trainor Lori-Ann Cyr, president of Diversis Inc. from New Brunswick, informed and equipped the participants to better recognize and understand the various cultural components and qualities and skills required to maintain an intercultural workplace and to recognize the advantages and challenges that the hiring of a culturally diverse workforce will bring about.

The workshop also helped prepare employers to integrate and retain a culturally diverse workforce.
