OMD Construction captures second straight championship at Acadian Golf Tournament

Event raises $7,500 for Jeux de l’Acadie athletes

championsgolf 2014lowres.pgMILL RIVER – Sept. 16, 2014 – For two years in a row, the OMD Construction & Consulting team from Maximeville has earned the championship title at the Acadian Golf Tournament in Mill River. As well, the foursome – composed of Jamie Caissie, Marcel Landry, Ghislain Bernard and Jason Perry – beat last year’s record by two swings, wrapping up their game with a 13 shots under par for a round of 59.

The 9th Acadian Golf Tournament, played for a second consecutive year at Mill River Golf Course, was considered another major success. “The 90 golfers who participated in Saturday’s tournament had a great time, even though the weather was a bit cool and cloudy,” says Carole Gallant, president of the Jeux de l’Acadie PEI Regional Committee.

“Thanks to the registration fees of our participants and the contributions of our 33 sponsors, we were able to generate a nice profit of about $7,500,” she added. “This amount will help our young athletes participate in our Regional Games as well as in the Finals of Les Jeux de l’Acadie, which will take place for a first time in Charlottetown in 2015.”

Organizers presented a large number of prizes for various contests and competitions held during the tournament. Firstly, the team “The Mulligans”, made up of Robert Richard, Roger Richard, Kevin Arsenault and Normand Arsenault, took second place with their seven under par 65. Members of “The Eh Team” – Ronald, Daniel, Carl and Jocelyn Arsenault – earned third place with a 66.
