WELLINGTON – Aug. 14, 2024 – The Provincial Credit Union has just confirmed that it will once again be the main sponsor of the 2024 Acadian Golf Tournament, the sole fundraising event for the annual programming of the PEI Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie. An important part of this programming will of course be the participation of more than a 100 young Islanders in the 44th Finals of Les Jeux de l’Acadie in Dieppe, NB, next summer.

The Regional Committee and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI, who are collaborating to organise and promote the tournament, are hoping to raise much more than the $10,000 collected last year, since expenses continue to rise much faster than revenues do.

The tournament will be held for the second year running at Stratford’s popular Fox Meadow Golf Course on Sunday, Sept. 8, at 12 noon.

“We continue to sponsor this tournament because we feel it’s so important to support the development of our young people at all levels, whether it’s from sports, arts, leadership or other perspectives,” points out Jessica Gallant, Evangeline Branch Manager of the Provincial Credit Union. “We encourage all other businesses, co-operatives and organizations to also make a special effort to support our young people by becoming hole sponsors ($100) or by sponsoring other facets of this tournament, which is always great fun.”

Interested parties are asked to confirm their sponsorships as soon as possible before Sept. 2 by contacting coordinator Jeannette Gallant at 902-439-2791 or at jeannettegallant@gov.pe.ca.

Regarding golfer registrations, the limit has almost been reached. The tournament, now in its 18th year, can however still accommodate a few more players. Registration is $100 per golfer or $400 per foursome. The tournament is a friendly competition, so it’s open to amateurs and experienced players alike. There are a range of competitive and random-draw prizes up for grabs.
