A record of $15,000 raised for Les Jeux de l’Acadie of PEI

During 19th Acadian Golf Tournament

STRATFORD – Sept. 7, 2025 – Thanks to a record number of 65 sponsors and the participation of 105 dedicated golfers, the 19th Acadian Golf Tournament raised a record of about $15,000 for the P.E.I. Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie on Sunday, Sept. 7, at Fox Meadow Golf Course in Stratford.

Joceline Arsenault, president of the Regional Committee, was extremely pleased with these wonderful results, as the money will help pay for the considerable expense of bringing a delegation of more than 100 Island youth and volunteers to the 45th Finals of Les Jeux de l’Acadie in Edmundston, N.B., from June 24-29, 2026. The Regional Committee and its organizational and promotional partner, the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI, expressed their enormous gratitude to all those who contributed in one way or another to the tournament, including the many volunteers who helped out.

The competitive-recreational event went very smoothly. Fortunately, there was no wind, although there was a light drizzle and lots of mosquitoes in the late afternoon.

The team that won the championship of the competitive portion of the tournament came as no surprise. Once again, it was the Mill River team, composed of Paul Cyr, Darren Oliver, Kevin Ellsworth, and Jamie Ellis, who finished with an impressive score of 58 (considerably better than last year’s 62 points), earning free passes to play golf at the Brudenell provincial course. The Birdie Bunch team, composed of Denis, Raphaël, and Olivier Duchesne and Yannick McPhee, surprised themselves by winning second prize for their excellent score of 59. They earned passes to play for free again at Fox Meadow.
