Winners rewarded with various prizes
WELLINGTON – Oct. 17, 2025 – Twenty-two artisans and artists from the Evangeline region and surrounding areas contributed a total of 78 pieces – beautiful knitted creations, paintings, wooden puppets, and more – to a contest organized for people aged 60 and over for Co-op and Small Business Weeks.
The pieces were on display from Oct. 14-17 on two tables at the entrance of the Wellington Co-op, where they were sold by silent auction. The proceeds will go to the ABDC Park, the playground at Évangéline School, to upgrade its recreational equipment. Any unsold items will be donated to the West Prince Caring Cupboard food bank in Tyne Valley.
On the morning of Oct. 17, the organizers and sponsors of the contest—the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI (CCAFLIPE), the Wellington Co-op, the Provincial Credit Union, the Conseil scolaire-communautaire Évangéline, RDÉE Prince Edward Island, the Wellington Rural Action Centre, and MacDonald Insurance and Investments (The Co-operators)— held random draws to reward those who contributed handcrafts and pieces of art. Each item contributed was eligible for one of the 19 prizes; the more items submitted, the more chances to win.
