CAPE EGMONT, PEI – Dec. 14, 2011 – The “Retired Francophone Teachers” group from the Evangeline region as well as Roger and Shelley Arsenault of Dartmouth, N.S., have just each won a free weekend at the Centre Goéland in Cape Egmont. They will now be able to invite family and friends – a maximum of 48 people – to spend two days and one night with them at this great retreat and convention center over the coming year.

These two weekends, valued at $2,000 each, were the top prizes in a lottery organized as a fundraiser for the center. The third prize, a handmade quilt valued at $500, was won by RDÉE Prince Edward Island; this provincial francophone economic development council gave the prize back to the Centre Goéland for a future lottery.

“We congratulate the winners and we very much look forward to welcoming them to the center,” says president Claudette Gallant. “We greatly appreciate the fact that many people from our community bought tickets since the lottery brought in $4,200!”

The president then thanked Yvonne Pitre for donating the quilt as well as the RDÉE for giving it back. “We have also recently received a beautiful painting by artist Noella Richard, so over the coming year, we’ll organize a second lottery with the quilt, the painting and other prizes.”
