Free workshop for newcomers on MS Word and on writing resumes

CHARLOTTETOWN – March 14, 2018 –
All French-speaking newcomers to PEI are invited to a free workshop on the basics of the Microsoft Word word-processing program and on writing a resume for job applications Saturday, March 24, from 9 a.m. til noon at the Carrefour de l’Isle-Saint-Jean in Charlottetown.

« Trainer Émile Le Guellec will first present the Word program, which is used for writing texts, letters, reports and other types of documents, » explains Chérine Stévula, coordinator of the LIENS project, which is offering the workshop. « She will explain its main functionalities and will offer a few tips and tricks. »

« This program is obviously extremely important since it is the main word-processing tool used in most Island offices, » adds Stévula.

For the second portion of the afternoon, the trainer will explain the « Canadian » way of preparing a resume – which can be a format that is not necessarily the same as those used in other countries.

« The resume, or CV, must absolutely showcase exactly what Canadian employers want to see. One must therefore focus primarily on previous experience, skills and training that are related to the position being sought, » explains Stévula.

A breakfast and a lunch will be served free of charge before and after the session. A babysitting service will also be provided as needed. The entire morning will be presented by RDÉE Prince Edward’s LIENS project (Linking Economic Immigration to our Successes).

Those who are interested must sign up no later than March 21 by contacting Chérine Stévula at cherine@rdeeipe.org or at (902) 370-7333, Ext. 404.
