“How To Better Manage My Stress at Work”: theme of May 1 lunch-and-learn

WELLINGTON – April 13, 2018 –
All French-speaking workers and employers are invited to attend a lunch-and-learn on the theme “How To Better Manage My Stress at Work” with trainer Maurice Hashie from the Collège de l’Île Tuesday, May 1, at 12 noon at the Wellington Rural Action Centre (RAC).

“This informative 90-minute session is being offered in French by the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI and the Wellington RAC as an activity to promote a positive mental health in the workplace, as much for the prevention of stress and in dealing with stressful situations,” explains Raymond J. Arsenault, coordinator of the Acadian Chamber.

“Everyone feels stress at work for innumerable reasons – tight deadlines, large volumes of work, disagreements with co-workers, slow sales, stiff competition – but by using simple techniques that our facilitator will present us, we’ll learn how to navigate through these rough seas,” adds Arsenault.

Hashie, who has been teaching at the college since 2009, explains that his presentation will include a short Tony Robbins video on the theme “5 Keys to Break Through Stress”.

The trainer will also show participants a simple meditation exercise and a personal development exercise, will lead group discussion on stress management tricks and will show a PowerPoint presentation on “Learning How to Slow Down”.

Hashie is the coordinator and professor of two Collège de l’Île programs: youth worker and human services. He is certified as a life coach (2010), a teacher of adults (2016), a youth worker (1991) and a community development worker (2005, Concordia University).

The registration fee, which also covers a light lunch, is $5 for members of the Acadian Chamber and $10 for non-members. Those who are interested must sign up no later than April 27 by contacting Velma Robichaud at 902-854-3439, Ext. 228, or at velma@rdeeipe.org.
