Only few days left to donate to Evangeline food drive

More donations absolutely needed

WELLINGTON – Oct. 17, 2025 – People from the Evangeline region and surrounding areas are reminded that they only have a few days left to contribute to the non-perishable food drive for the West Prince Caring Cupboard food bank, Tyne Valley branch (which serves their region). Contributions must be brought to the Wellington Co-op or the Provincial Credit Union, Evangeline branch, by Saturday, Oct. 25. All contributors will have a chance to win a $100 gift card from the Wellington Co-op.

Alternatively, those with children attending Évangéline School can send their contributions to the school by Friday, Oct. 24, as the class that contributes the most items will win a $100 cash prize from Provincial Credit Union.

MUCH MORE NEEDED

Local community organizers of the drive report that food has begun to trickle in, but not yet in sufficient quantities. “We still need a lot more, as the food bank is receiving more and more requests for its services, especially at this time of year,” they say. “We therefore invite every family in the region to do their part to help their neighbors in need by contributing as much food as they can.”

The food bank appreciates receiving foods that are always in demand, such as Kraft Dinner, instant coffee, small juice boxes, cereal for adults and children, snacks for children, peanut butter, jams, hearty soups, noodle soup, Mr. Noodle, canned meat (such as flakes of ham or chicken), canned fruit, meal accompaniments (Knorr Sidekicks, Hamburger Helper, rice, instant potatoes, etc.), pasta sauces, cans of pasta, beans, etc. Cash donations are also welcome.

This community and school food drive is once again being organized jointly by various co-operative and community-based economic development partners during Co-op and Small Business Weeks (Oct. 12-25).

More contributions are desperately needed.
