Registration now open for 19th Acadian Golf Tournament

STRATFORD – July 24, 2025 – Good news for all golf enthusiasts. The 19th Acadian Golf Tournament, which will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 12 p.m. at Fox Meadow Golf Course in Stratford, will feature two categories: one for those who enjoy competitive play and one for those who simply want to participate for a fun afternoon of recreation and to support the cause.

“We will once again be awarding a championship plaque and prizes based on the scores of those who register in the competitive category, but for the others, we will simply hold random draws for some nice prizes,” says coordinator Jeannette Gallant.

Regardless of the participation category, the registration fee remains $100 per player and therefore $400 per team of four golfers, as it has always been, she adds. Registration must be completed by Aug. 29 by sending an email to Gallant at jeannettegallant@gov.pe.ca or by calling her at (902) 439-2791. Simply indicate which category you want to play in. The registration fee covers the round of golf, a cart, golf balls, food, and beverages. Golfers are asked to pay their registration fees in advance whenever possible; organizers strongly encourage e-transfers.

FUNDRAISER

The 2025 tournament will once again be a fundraiser for the PEI Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie. This year’s goal is to raise enough funds to transport the delegation of participants and volunteers from the Island to the 45th Jeux de l’Acadie Finals in Edmundston, NB, from June 24-29, 2026. “We anticipate that our transportation expenses next year will be almost triple what they were this year, and there are all kinds of other expenses to pay on top of that. We are looking to minimize the expenses of the Acadian Golf Tournament and therefore maximize its profits,” says Gallant.

“For the first time in the 19-year history of our tournament, we will be increasing the cost of hole sponsorships to $125 each,” said the coordinator. “We hope that all of our regular hole sponsors will return again this year and that we will be able to find several new ones. We are also looking for major and minor sponsors to contribute either funds, prizes, or food for the golfers. The deadline for sponsorships is also Aug. 29. ”

Gallant says there will be no formal meal this year. However, there will be free food for all golfers as soon as they finish their round of golf. In addition, there will be various free snacks and beverages at several stations along the course while golfers are playing. There will also be several contests and the chance to win many exciting prizes. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.

A brief awards ceremony will be held outside once everyone has finished their round.

The tournament will once again begin with a shotgun start. The format will be Mulligan (or best ball).

The 2025 Acadian Golf Tournament is being organized, as always, in collaboration with the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI.
