WELLINGTON – Sept. 4, 2025 – The plaque displaying the names of the champions of each annual Acadian Golf Tournament is completely full! All 18 spaces are taken! The names of this year’s champions will therefore be inscribed on a brand-new plaque, which will be unveiled at this Sunday’s tournament and permanently displayed on the wall of the PEI Regional Committee of the Jeux de l’Acadie office in Wellington.
The original plaque was sponsored by the former Évangéline Credit Union, which later became Évangéline-Central Credit Union, which eventually merged with other credit unions on the Island to become Provincial Credit Union. This new version of the financial institution agreed to purchase the new replacement plaque, in addition to being a major sponsor of the 2025 tournament ($1,000), entering a team, bringing its show car, hosting a game, and offering small gifts to the 105 participants.
The 19th edition of the tournament will take place this weekend, on Sunday, Sept. 7, starting at noon, at Fox Meadow Golf Course in Stratford. For the first time, there will be a competitive category (for which the plaque and prizes will be awarded based on scores) and a recreational category (for which prizes will be awarded by random draw).
We wonder if some of the names that regularly appear on the old plaque will one day be found on the new plaque, or if there will be new names…
