Workshop on recruiting and retaining francophone employees

WELLINGTON – Feb. 13, 2026 – In a rapidly changing job market, attracting and retaining French-speaking and bilingual workers has become a strategic issue for businesses and non-profit organizations in Prince Edward Island. The Wellington Rural Action Centre (RAC) and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI are therefore offering a free three-hour workshop on the theme of “Recruiting and Retaining Talent in Francophone Minority Communities” on Wednesday, March 4, starting at 9 a.m.

This interactive workshop, delivered at the Wellington RAC by human resources expert Bruce Joshua of Capstan Consulting, will provide “a dynamic space” to understand the realities of recruiting in a minority context and to develop concrete strategies tailored to organizations’ resources and challenges.

“Through discussions, local examples, and practical tools, participants will leave better equipped to strengthen their ability to attract and integrate new talent and build an organizational culture that promotes long-term retention,” says Joshua.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify the main obstacles to attracting Francophone and bilingual talent and analyze the factors that influence their ability to recruit (demographics, competition, linguistic identity, employer brand);
• Adopt at least three recruitment strategies (communication, partnerships, onboarding, integration, use of Francophone networks) tailored to their own organizational reality;
• Design a short retention action plan that includes realistic measures adapted to their organization’s resources (inclusive culture, recognition, professional development, flexibility, community engagement).

To participate free of charge, simply register by March 2 with Marthe Ngombi at marthe@rdeeipe.org or 902-854-3439.
