Évangéline-Central Credit Union returns as lead sponsor of 15th Acadian Golf Tournament

WELLINGTON – June 9, 2021 – Knowing that it is contributing to the sports, cultural and social development of the Island’s Francophone youth, Évangéline-Central Credit Union recently confirmed its sponsorship of the 15th annual PEI Acadian Golf Tournament.

This recreational tournament is a fundraiser for the PEI Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie. The money raised helps the committee organize its annual programming, which will include the participation of more than 100 young Islanders in the next Jeux de l’Acadie Finals (to be held in Quispamsis and Saint John, NB).

« We are very proud to be back as the lead sponsor of this wonderful tournament, which will be held on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021, at 12 noon at the Mill River Golf Course in Woodstock, » said Alfred Arsenault, CEO of the Credit Union. « We encourage all Island businesses to do their part to support this worthy cause by purchasing $100 hole sponsorships. »

Arsenault recently presented the $1,000 sponsorship cheque to Jeannette Gallant, tournament and regional committee coordinator. Since the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI is a partner in the event, its event coordinator Raymond J. Arsenault also participated in the presentation; he presented a small stuffed doll of Acajoux, the mascot of the Jeux, to the Credit Union. In turn, the Credit Union presented him with one of the packages of golf balls that each participant in the tournament will receive.

The registration fee for this year’s tournament is $400 per team of four. Players will have access to golf carts to play their 18-hold round. They will receive golf balls, snacks, a delicious supper and a chance to win a variety of prizes.

The number of participants in the tournament will be limited. Interested parties are asked to register as soon as possible by contacting Jeannette Gallant by phone at 902-439-2791 or by email at jeannettegallant@gov.pe.ca.
