Employers and employees to explore Employment Standards Nov. 13 in Wellington

New rules to be presented during lunch-and-learn

WELLINGTON – Oct. 24, 2019 – All employers, as well as all interested employees, are encouraged to attend a lunch-and-learn on PEI Employment Standards Wednesday, Nov. 13, at 12 noon at the Wellington Rural Action Centre at 48 Mill Rd.

Robert Yeo, PEI Chief Labour Standards Officer, will be returning to Wellington to give the presentation, which will provide an overview of the Employment Standards Act, including such topics as wages, hours of work, overtime, vacation pay, statutory holidays, special leaves, termination notices and youth employment rules (for employees under 16 years). He will also mention small changes that have been made to the standards in the past year.

This session is meant to help people better understand the rights and obligations of both employers and employees that are covered by the provincial Employment Standards Act.

The Wellington Rural Action Centre and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI are jointly offering this session, which will be delivered in English only. Some documentation will also be available in French.

A light lunch will be provided with the session. The registration fee is $5 for Chamber members and $10 for non-members.
