Information session on $25,000 Ignition prizes for entrepreneurs slated for Wellington May 29

WELLINGTON – May 23, 2018 – All Islanders needing funding to start or expand a business are urged to attend a free information session on the 10 prizes of $25,000 being offered by Innovation PEI’s Ignition Fund, Tuesday, May 29, at 3 p.m. at the Wellington Rural Action Centre.

Connor MacPhee, Innovation PEI’s bilingual business development officer, will provide information about this program, which is accepting applications until July 13. Applicants will essentially be competing to receive seed money to turn a venture idea into a tangible, viable business.

Applicants must be a start-up in Prince Edward Island or entrepreneur committed to establishing and operating a new for-profit venture in Prince Edward Island. Products and/or services developed must have the potential to be sold outside of PEI.

The top projects submitted will be invited to pitch their idea to a panel in early September; the winners will be announced at the end of that month.

The Wellington Rural Action Centre and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI are jointly hosting this information session. It will be delivered in French if participants are Francophones or in English if participants are primarily Anglophones.

Those wishing to attend are asked to register free of charge by contacting Velma Robichaud at 902-854-3439, Ext. 228, or velma@rdeeipe.org by May 28.
