Lunch-and-learn on new Innovation PEI programs being organized for Sept. 16

WELLINGTON – Aug. 27, 2021 – All entrepreneurs interested in learning more about Innovation PEI’s new and improved financial support programs are invited to attend a lunch-and-learn at the Wellington Rural Action Centre on Thursday, Sept. 16, at 12 noon.

The presenter during this information session (in English) will be Steve Reaman, Innovation PEI’s Business development officer from Summerside, who has been working in the field for many years. Bilingual resource people will be present to answer any questions that might be asked in French.

He will focus specifically on the new Small Business Assistance Program, which aims to increase support for small businesses that serve the local market, and the newly adjusted Capital Acquisition Program, which can now contribute up to $25,000 (rather than the $10,000 previously available).

Reaman will also explain the following programs:

• Equity Investors Incentive – to provide PEI strategic sector businesses with a tool to attract private sector investment;
• Innovation Fund – to assist businesses to bring a new product, service, or process to market;
• Strategic Improvement Assistance – to improve productivity, profitability and competitiveness in the global market.

These new programs, as well as adjustments to existing programs, came about last spring as the province sought to support local businesses affected by the impacts of COVID-19.

The luncheon is presented by the Wellington Rural Action Centre and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI. A light lunch will be served. The registration fee is $5 (taxes included) for Chamber members and $10 (taxes included) for non-members.

To register, by Sept. 13, contact Josée Ouellette at (902) 854-3439, ext. 228, or at josee@rdeeipe.org.
