Employers to learn how to better manage employee performance

Diana Lariviere lowresWELLINGTON – March 2, 2017 – All French-speaking employers are invited to attend a lunch-and-learn Tuesday, March 28, at 12 noon at Wellington Rural Action Centre (RAC) to learn how to better manage the performance or productivity of their employees.

The RAC and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI are jointly hosting this workshop to help equip employers with the right tools to better communicate their expectations to their employees and then better measure how well they attained the goals.

The workshop presenter, staffing and human resource specialist Diana Lariviere, explains that « Productivity management is a tool that aims at improving the performance and productivity of employees, teams and organisations. Nowadays, it takes on an even more important role because of ever-tightening budgets and increased demand on smaller staffs. »

RELATIONSHIP OF CONFIDENCE

The implementation of such a process can contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a relationship of confidence between the employer and the employee and create conditions that will allow all employees to deliver optimal contributions, says Lariviere. By using this method, employers avoid or reduce poor performances that sometimes lead to firings.

The trainer will talk about the importance of developing performance agreements with employees to define precisely what is expected of them. « Employers must explain to employees not just what they have to do but how they should complete the task. And then if there are any problems with performance, it is extremely important to communicate directly with the employee to give him or her a chance to improve. By proceeding in this fashion, you can prevent various consequences, including those that could involve a legal perspective. »

To register for this lunch-and-lunch, at a price of $5 for Chamber members and $10 for non-members, contact Velma Robichaud at (902) 854-3439, ext. 228, or at velma@rdeeipe.org no later than March 24.
