Mi’kmaq craft demonstrations held at Wellington Co-op

WELLINGTON – October 22, 2021 – Four expert Lennox Island artisans, from left Keptin Jimmy Bernard, Sarah Myers, Jeannie Henderson and Jeffery James Bernard, visited the Wellingon Co-op on Friday for Co-op Store Day to offer demonstrations of their traditional Mi’kmaq craft-making skills. They showed how to weave baskets, make porcupine quill souvenirs and make bodhran-style drums. They also brought samples of other products, including animal furs and hides, as well as many baskets. The cooperative’s clients enjoyed these beautiful demonstrations.
