Great partnership for health promotion at 2022 Acadian Golf Tournament

WELLINGTON – July 20, 2022 – Always looking for opportunities to promote good health, exercise and healthy nutrition, the PEI French Health Network (PEIFHN) is once again partnering with the organizers of the Acadian Golf Tournament to sponsor the 2022 edition of the sporting and recreational event. The Health Network will be sponsoring a hole and will also be kicking in additional funds for the purchase of healthy snacks for golfers and volunteers of the 16th edition of the tournament, which will be held Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Mill River Golf Course in Woodstock.

The snacks will be distributed at two different locations along the 18-hole course (since a game can extend to more than four hours), thereby ensuring that participants remain well-nourished and hydrated for the full duration of the event.

The executive director of the PEIFHN, Élise Arsenault, explains that the Health Network also feels it is important to support such an initiative from the point of view of the benefits that the tournament brings to the community. « The tournament is a fundraiser for the PEI Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie to enable them to bring a delegation of over 100 youth to the next Jeux Finals in Memramcook, NB, early next summer. In addition to providing an opportunity for our young Francophones to be active at the physical and athletic levels, the Jeux de l’Acadie are an exceptional means for the development of camaraderie among our young Francophones of the Maritime Provinces. The games also provide an opportunity for our youth to develop their leadership skills. All of this contributes to the physical and mental health of our youth and the overall well-being of our communities.”

The tournament organizers – the PEI Regional Committee of Les Jeux de l’Acadie and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce of PEI – say they are very happy to be able to rely on the PEIFHN every year for its sponsorship. They sincerely thank the network for its contributions.

All beginner and experienced golfers who wish to participate in the tournament (for $100 per person or $400 per team) must register by Aug. 16 by contacting Jeannette Gallant by phone at 902-439-2791 or by e-mail at jeannettegallant@gov.pe.ca. Registration will provide participants with an 18-hole round of golf, two carts per team, snacks and beverages at various locations along the course, a light supper and a chance to win a number of competitive and raffle prizes. There will be golf passes, promotional tools and all sorts of goodies.
