RDÉE moves to Carrefour earlier than anticipated

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI – June 24, 2013 – RDÉE Prince Edward Island’s satellite office, which had previously been located on Queen Street in downtown Charlottetown, has just moved into a new and attractive location in the Carrefour de l’Isle-Saint-Jean at 5 Acadian Dr., Charlottetown.

“We are extremely pleased to finally be able to permanently move into the Carrefour, which we consider to be the heart of Charlottetown’s francophone community,” says executive director Bonnie Gallant. “This move will allow us to get closer to the capital city’s francophone community, to get more involved in its projects and to get it more involved in our projects.”

She adds that “The Carrefour management has prepared some very beautiful office space in the south-west section of the building that has just been renovated and expanded, near the main community entrance.”

Gallant said the construction project was completed earlier than anticipated, so the RDÉE was allowed to move in more than a month before the original date that had been agreed upon and announced last winter.

A few years ago, the RDÉE – the provincial francophone economic development council – had rented a couple of small offices at the Carrefour for a few months. In very short order, the space no longer sufficed. The new expansion now offers ample space for the RDÉE team and its current needs. It is renting 540 square feet, divided into five offices. In addition to staff offices, it is also equipped with a small meeting room and a kitchenette.

“The Carrefour receptionist will also serve as our receptionist,” added Gallant.

The Charlottetown office provides workspace for assistant executive director Gary Doucette, special projects officer Francis Thériault, immigration development officer Christian Gallant, youth development officer Stéphane Blanchard and LIENS project coordinator Catherine Rioux. PERCÉ coordinator Trevor Dunphy also spends a couple of days a week there.

The RDÉE’s head office remains in Wellington.
