Three cartfulls and $954 for Summerside Food Bank

WELLINGTON – Oct. 20, 2017 – People from the Evangeline area recently donated three overflowing shopping carts of food to the Summerside Salvation Army Food Bank through a food drive organized by the Evangeline-Central Credit Union and the Wellington Co-op. As well, the food bank received $954, which represents half of the revenues from the family benefit Mega-Bingo held Oct. 15.

Seen in the photo is Diane McInnis, left, from the credit union, who is donating the money to Captain Neil Abbott from the Summerside Salvation Army. Next on the right, Angèle Arsenault from the Wellington Co-op is seen presenting a $100 gift card to draw winner Anne Gallant of Mont-Carmel; everyone who made a food donation received a ballot for the draw. Captain Abbott sincerely thanked the community for its contribution. He noted that each penny and each food donation helps to feed the 80-110 families who ask for assistance at the food bank each week.
