Two lunch-and-learns on support funds for product discovery and development

In Wellington and Charlottetown

WELLINGTON, PEI – May 27, 2013 – All French-speaking entrepreneurs, inventors and product developers are invited to attend one of two lunch-and-learns to learn more about two key entrepreneurial support funds from Innovation PEI’s Island Prosperity Program.

A first session will be held Tuesday, June 18, at the RDÉE PEI boardroom in Wellington, at 48 Mill Road, while the second session is slated for Wednesday, June 19, in the RDÉE boardroom in Charlottetown, at 137 Queen St, Suite 204. Both sessions start at 12 noon.

At the request of the Wellington Rural Action Centre and the Acadian and Francophone Chamber of Commerce, Innovation PEI officers Gerald Arsenault and Cody Clinton will attend the sessions to provide details on the Pilot and Discovery Fund as well as on the Development and Commercialization Fund, and to answer participants’ questions.

The first fund supports early stage, proof-of-concept projects that will lead to the development of new products, services or processes in the strategic sectors. The Pilot and Discovery Fund will provide grants of up to $25,000 (or 50% of eligible expenses) associated with testing an innovation-based idea.

The second fund supports Island-based businesses and researchers that have completed the prototype and pilot stage, have tested and developed a product and are prepared to move toward manufacturing or commercial scale production. The Development and Commercialization Fund will contribute a maximum of $100,000 (or 50% of eligible expenses) towards the completion of approved projects.

The registration fee, which covers both lunch and the information session, is $5 for RDÉE and Chamber members and $10 for non-members. Those interested must register no later than Friday, June 14, by contacting Jeannine Arsenault at (902) 854-2328, Ext. 228, or at Jeannine@rdeeipe.org.
