RDÉE Prince Edward Island Inc., the provincial francophone economic development council, has a mandate of contributing actively to entrepreneurial and community economic development as well as job creation within the Island’s Acadian and Francophone community, all while contributing to the overall economic development of the province. Since one of its priorities is in fact the immigration sector, and thanks to its previous projects in the economic immigration sector, the RDÉE has gathered over the past few years a substantial amount of pertinent information that will help it implement this project.
The LIENS project is considered to be extremely important since it will help fill in various gaps and needs that currently exist on PEI.
The goals of the project are threefold:
- To increase awareness of Francophone economic immigration and its importance on PEI;
- To educate employers on how to proceed for hiring permanent residents and new international Canadian citizens who speak French;
- To create connections between new Francophone immigrant entrepreneurs and experienced Island entrepreneurs.
The direct beneficiaries of the project of course will be employers and permanent residents. During their participation in various activities, they’ll gain new knowledge that will help them in the area of economic immigration in our province. The indirect beneficiary of this project will be the Island community. The inclusion of permanent residents into the Island’s economic sector will help with the overall education of our community.
The LIENS project seeks to increase the population of PEI by creating a business and employment environment that is more welcoming to the integration of immigrants. LIENS also promotes collaboration between the Island’s various chambers of commerce.
