Green jobs and professions
As part of Canada's commitment to a sustainable future, and in support of the 2030 Agenda, RDÉE Prince Edward Island launched a two-year project in the spring of 2025 to raise awareness among students in Prince Edward Island's French-language schools about green jobs and employment opportunities in this field.

Project objectives
Our goal is to offer Grade 10 students an overview of the green trades available on Prince Edward Island, highlighting the importance of the transition to a green economy. Through interactive workshops, we aim to raise students' awareness of the environmental impact of these trades and encourage them to explore sustainable careers.
Workshops in French schools - 2025
The workshops were held in the five francophone high schools of the Commission scolaire francophone de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard. For 2025, workshops were held on March 27, April 3, 10, 17 and 24. These workshops were led by a Parks Canada expert, who shared his expertise on green jobs, environmental conservation and the career opportunities available on the Island. The aim was to give students hands-on experience of green careers.
French Local Forum for the Future - May 7, 2025
We took part in our first local French Forum for the Future on May 7, 2025, with a strong partnership with the event organizers. The event was an unmissable opportunity to discover career opportunities in the environment and green professions. It brought together local experts and organizations dedicated to the green transition, including Projet Gaia, STEAM PEI/STIMA ÎPÉ, Wheatley River Improvement Group, and Greenfoot Energy Solutions. Parks Canada and some of the partners also hosted workshops at the event, and several of the partners had booths for direct exchanges with participants.

Workshops in French schools - spring 2026

The school tour took place on:
- April 13
- April 14
- April 15
These workshops allowed the 111 students encountered to concretely discover professions related to the environment, green technologies, and the energy transition.
French Forum for the Future 2026
The project also participated in the Local French for the Future Forum, which was held on May 7th at Holland College in Charlottetown.
This event allowed students to meet with environmental sector organizations and experts, participate in interactive activities, and explore the many career opportunities in green jobs.
