RDÉE, which has been in existence since the fall of 1999, initially operated as a program of the Société de développement de la Baie acadienne. In March 2010, it was officially and independently incorporated as a non-profit organization. It is led by a nine-person elected Board of Directors.
Our members, who pay an annual membership fee, are mainly businesses and community organizations. Individuals are also welcome to become members. (Note that by paying your dues, you become a member of the RDÉE as well as its Chambre de commerce acadienne et francophone de l'ÎPÉ).
Partnerships
RDÉE Canada
RDÉE Prince Edward Island is an integral part of the national economic development and employability network known as RDÉE Canada. Every province and territory in the country (except Quebec) has such a network, which supports the economic development of Canada's French-speaking minority communities.
Please note that the acronym RDÉE stands for Réseau de développement économique et d'employabilité.
CCAFLIPE
The Chambre de commerce acadienne et francophone de l'Î.-P.-É. (CCAFLIPE) is integrated within RDÉE. CCAFLIPE is guided by a spokesperson and a steering committee. Its overall objective is to organize networking, learning and sharing activities for entrepreneurs, while representing their interests. It also conducts activities to promote buying local.
Wellington Rural Action Centre
Since April 2013, RDÉE PEI has been managing Wellington's Rural Action Centre, the only one of three in the province to be officially designated bilingual. This center provides support for entrepreneurial and community development projects in and around the Evangeline region. It also supports any francophone projects that may be referred by the other centers.
